"We're not gonna die. We can't die, Bendis. You know why? Because we are so very pretty. We are just too pretty for God to let us die."

LOTNA Review of 2018
by Dave Baseley
January - Opening the year we had our General Meeting followed by Ray's quiz at the main meeting. There was a board game afternoon before the second meeting where Jason ran the quiz. Ed also organised a visit to the BFI to watch the Day of the Doctor and a visit to Science Museum Lates.
February - At the first meeting we had a board game afternoon followed by a quiz form Jossman. The second meeting we had a quiz from Richard. We also ran trips to see the Rifftrax team riffing two movies and we visited Picocon at the Imperial College Sci Fi society.
March - Emmett ran a quiz for the first meeting in March, which took place after a board game afternoon. The second meeting was filled with Jossman's second quiz for 2018. We had a right old knees up to celebrate Marcus's 50th birthday and we played Shaun Danby's Sci-Fi LARP game, The Quatermass Legacy where we were all genuinely surprised to learn that Sian was evil all along!
April - April was a busy month. Sci-Fi London Director Louis Savvy joined us before our first meeting to talk about the 2018 Film Festival and show us some short films. For the last meeting in April we held our 20th anniversary party. We watched "This Papier Mache Boulder is Actually Really Heavy" and we were visited by our special guest Chris Barrie. We also had 2 groups of LOTNA members attend the Bladerunner Secret Cinema. We also had an advertising table at the Tonbridge Comic Con. Thanks to Kelly and Pete for their support.
May - We visited Sci-Fi London and watched 23 different Sci-Fi features over a week. Our first meeting was held after another board game afternoon and we held a sound effects themed quiz from Johanna and Bianca. Our second meeting had a quiz form Wayne who used the pub screen to great effect. We also ran our first LOTNA LARP game. This year we had a Firefly theme. Captain Kelly needed a new crew and some work to keep flying. Could "Honest Dennick" be the answer to her problems? A couple of us also visited the Sci-Fi Theatre festival for an evening of Sci-Fi on the stage.
June - We were competing with World Cup madness but we carried on Geeking. Ono gave his first quiz at the first June meeting. Kelly ran the quiz for the second. In our second LARP game Captain Kelly took a locked box found in the first game to Market Town to meet up with one of "Honest Dennick's" friends. But what was going on with the town's railroad?
July - We started the month with Mark Doney's Star Wars Party. This was followed by our first meeting. And Tony ran a quiz for us at the second Meeting. Meanwhile on the Fortitude the crew were sent to a small hospital and found the Doctor there were killing the patients. Worse he appears to be part of a large organised group.
August - Our first meeting had an excellent quiz from our visitor form the US, Jeff. The Bank Holiday weekend saw our main LARP event Invasion where Skynet was unleashed. Despite the soggy weather we played games including the main theme of Terminator. Could the survivors defeat the machines and break Skynet's link with the mainframe in the US? We also saw different dimension's superheroes combine to face down a new menace. Meanwhile those who weren't playing met up at the Mad Hatter in a meeting run by Janine.
September - We started off with a board game afternoon. Jackson ran the first meeting's game while selling us holidays around the universe. Jason ran the quiz for the last meeting. The Fortitude survived a visit to a Reaver infested world to find a much need data chip. Russell ran his second Battle Royal where the last person standing was Kelly AKA the Queen of frelling everything...mate!
October - We had tables at Bromley's Sci-Fi event to advertise both the group and the LARP games. Thanks to Emmett, Betty and Kelly for their help. Our first meeting had our annual fundraiser run by Janine and the second meeting was our Halloween party hosted by Venessa. The end of our LARP year had 2 games finishing off JR's 6 game series. Big thank you to JR and all the NPC's who made the games a great success. Thank you also to the players for taking on their characters. It was a lot of fun.
November - We had our first meeting with a quiz from Mark Doney. The second meeting we had a special evening with Babylon 5 guests Claudia Christian and Patricia Tallman. We also went to see Star Wars at the Royal Albert Hall with the music score played live by the Royal Philomonic orchestra.
December - Our Christmas party and the unveiling of the 2019 LOTNA Calendar.
